首筆救助日本受災動物的匯款今晨已送出
(二零一一年三月三十一日，香港訊)香港愛護動物協會於今晨把首筆救助受災動物的善款送往日本。過去兩個星期，香港愛護動物協會日本地震救助基金共籌得超過港幣五十萬元，當中五十萬元善款將會匯至日本動物福祉協會，用作建立動物收容中心、購買必須品及糧食予受災動物。
香港愛護動物協會執行總監麥履善先生表示：「於這個難關，我們盡全力為日本提供協助。根據日本動物福祉協會表示，他們現在最急切需要的是購買糧食和用作興建臨時動物收容中心的設施及物資，以及為寵物主人提供協助。大部分受災家庭都待寵物如家庭成員之一，而寵物於這個時刻更擔任一個很重要的角色，以慰藉人類的心靈。我們對於香港市民熱心救助及支持，極為感動。」
如閣下希望繼續為當地受災動物出一分力，請將善款存入香港愛護動物協會 (HSBC 002-5-240326)，把銀行存根郵寄至灣仔運盛街五號或傳真至2511 5590，註明「日本地震救助基金」。
香港愛護動物協會
香港愛護動物協會早於1921年由一群志願人士自發成立，全力推行防止虐待動物工作。多年來，協會致力提倡善待動物，保障牠們的健康成長，為動物謀求福利，防止虐待行為，以及透過教育工作，向市民大眾灌輸「尊重生命，善待動物」的訊息，讓人類與動物能夠和恰相處。
香港愛護動物協會過去引入多項計劃，全力協助政府改善動物福利。除了為無依動物尋求領養家庭外，協會亦積極推廣動物生育控制，透過不同的計劃，為流浪動物、自由放養的動物、以及有主人飼養的動物，提供絕育服務。此外，協會位於全港不同地區的六家診所，除了提供診症服務外，部份診所亦設有提供手術服務，讓伴侶動物得到適當的照顧。
在未來的日子，香港愛護動物協會將會繼續努力，推行更多措施，讓所有動物能夠享有更優質生活。
First remittance on donations
made to animal victims from Japan Earthquake

(HONG KONG, 31 March 2011) The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals(Hong Kong)[SPCA(HK)] is sending off the first portion of donations for helping animals to Japan this morning. In the past 2 weeks SPCA(HK) has received over half million dollars for the Japan Earthquake Fund. $500,000 will be remitted to the Japan Animal Welfare Society (JAWS) for setting up animal shelters and getting essential materials and food for animals affected by the disaster.
“We are doing all we can to help the Japanese at this time of crisis. According to JAWS, their most urgent need is funds to buy food, equipment and materials for setting up the emergency shelters and helping pet owners. In many cases, the companion animals belonging to those who have suffered are regarded as family members. They also play a very important role in the humans’ well-being. It is incredibly heart warming to see Hong Kong people pull together to help in this regard," said Sandy Macalister, Executive Director of SPCA(HK).
To donate, please make a deposit into HSBC 002-5-240326 and send the bank-in slip with remark “designated to Japan Earthquake Fund” to 5 Wan Shing Street, Wanchai or fax to 2511 5590.
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (HK)
The SPCA (HK) was formed in 1921 by a group of volunteers. Throughout the decades, the SPCA (HK) has worked for the humane treatment and protection of animals. It has fought animal abuse, and through educating the community has promoted humane understanding and the community’s responsibility to protect and co-exist with animals. Its message continues to be that RESPECT FOR LIFE BEGINS WITH CONCERN FOR ANIMALS.
The SPCA (HK) has introduced a number of programmes to help the government to improve animal welfare. Besides finding new caring owners for the abandoned and strays, the SPCA (HK) promotes animal birth control through the various programmes introduced, allowing the owned, loosely-owned and stray animals to be desexed. The SPCA (HK) also operates seven animal clinics throughout Hong Kong, some of them also equipped with surgical facilities, to provide welfare for animals.
The SPCA (HK) continues its efforts to ensure that people and all animals can co-exist in harmony.
